Wilpattu is 1,317 km² of dense dry-zone forest and shallow natural lakes — villus — where leopards, sloth bears and elephants move mostly unseen. We run jeep safaris with experienced local drivers and trackers who know the park's tracks, water holes and seasons well enough to put you in the right place at the right time.

Every safari is in a 4x4 jeep with front-facing seats and an experienced driver-tracker. These are our standard timings — we'll confirm exact pickup times when you enquire.
Morning Safari
The park at its most active. Best odds for leopards moving before the heat settles in, plus strong birdlife around the villus.
Afternoon Safari
Animals return to the water in the cooler hours. Good light for photography as the sun drops over the villus.
Full-Day Safari
The real way to see Wilpattu's scale — deep tracks, quieter zones, breakfast and lunch inside the park.
Tented Camp Safari

A 2018 camera-trap survey covering some 660 km² of the park documented 133 individual leopards, among the higher recorded leopard densities anywhere in Sri Lanka.
Since reopening to visitors, Wilpattu has quickly become regarded as one of the finest wildlife-watching locations on the island, increasingly reliable for leopard, sloth bear and elephant sightings.
Wilpattu is described as offering a quieter, less commercialised safari than Sri Lanka's more crowded parks — lower visitor numbers that make for a more peaceful, immersive experience.
With far fewer visitors than other parks, Wilpattu's wildlife has had little contact with people and tends to be shyer, which is why an experienced guide matters even more here.
